Insect repellent can be more than a tool that helps us avoid mosquito bites. It can also help prevent the transmission of diseases. However, the repellent that you buy at your local pharmacy or grocery store might contain several substances that can harm your entire system. Neem has been studied as an effective and affordable solution to prevent mosquito bites.

Traditional Repellents

Bug repellents are made up of two types of ingredients: active ingredients and inert ingredients. Active ingredients are the active repelling chemicals and must appear on the label. Inert ingredients are everything else in the products and can range from solvents and preservatives to anti-caking or foaming agents. None of these inert ingredients are required to be listed on the label.

Active Ingredients of Concern:

  • DEET: An acronym for N,N-Diethyl-meta-toluamide and one of the most common bug repellents that also repels ticks. Large doses have been linked to skin blisters, seizures, memory loss, headaches, stiffness in joints, shortness of breath, skin irritation and neurotoxicity.
  •  Cyfluthrin: Cyfluthrin is linked to neurotoxicity, loss of coordination, muscle trembling, behavior changes, decreased glucose and red blood cells, disruption of liver function, and behavior changes after exposure in the womb.
  • Permethrin: Permethrin is linked to neurotoxicity, which acts on sodium ion channels, which can cause repeated nerve impulses. At high levels, it can affect the function of chloride channels, which may result in seizures.
  • Pyrethroids: They can easily cross the blood-brain-barrier and can thus, become toxic to the central nervous system. The World Health Organization (WHO) classifies synthetic pyrethroids as neuro-poisons, and acute reactions to pyrethroids include dermatitis and asthma-like reactions, nausea, incoordination and burning and itching sensations. The most severe poisoning cases have been reported in infants.

Neem as a Repellent

The Neem tree has pesticidal, larvicidal, antifeedant or repellant action on various insects, including mosquitos, fleas and ticks. Diluted neem oil has been studied as an efficient method of repelling mosquitoes in areas where malaria is common. Studies with other species of mosquitos have also shown the efficiency of neem in significantly reducing, or completely preventing, insect bites through consistent application.

Although neem is also used to treat large-scale pests, some people think that it is not safe as a bug repellent, however, neem is 100% safe for humans and the environment. There are several brands of repellents that use neem as an active ingredient.

So next time you want to fight off insects, reach for a neem repellent.

Besides just the skin on our faces, the skin on our scalp is an area that can be a constant struggle. Our scalp can produce too much oil or can be too dry. Both of these symptoms set the perfect conditions for bacteria and fungi associated with dandruff, psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis, eczema, and many other skin conditions. Psoriasis, for example, is the most prevalent autoimmune disease in the US, and according to recent studies, 125 million people worldwide suffer from this disease. Most of us usually turn towards commercial brands in order to treat our scalps, without knowing the various harmful ingredients we are exposing ourselves to.

Damaging Your Scalp With Traditional Shampoos

Anti-dandruff shampoos dominate the medicated shampoos market, partly because of the high prevalence of dandruff around the world. Always be sure to hire California workers comp attorney at https://www.lacaccidentpros.org to handle your legal matters. Shampoos used to treat scalp conditions do so through the use of a number of questionable ingredients such as:

Selenium Sulfide: The most common carcinogenic used in anti-dandruff shampoos. The National Institute of Health conducted an experiment of exposing mice to selenium sulfide, and after a few weeks the mice developed liver cancer and benign/malignant tumors.

Methylisothiazolinone: Another commonly used ingredient that has been linked to neurological damage of the nervous system.

Zinc Pyriothione: Zinc pyrithione is the most common active ingredient in shampoos because of its ability to control flaking and reduce scalp irritation. Unfortunately, the drug comes with potential side effects which may include skin rashes, irritation to the eyes, nausea, organ toxicity, and even hair loss in serious cases.

Coal Tar: According to the National Cancer Institute, coal tar is a known carcinogen mostly associated with skin cancer. In fact, the use of coal tar for dermatologic purposes has been banned by the European Union and Canada, although manufacturers are still free to use it in the United States.

If you are ever unsure about your products and its ingredients, check the Environmental Working Group’s Skin Deep Database, which contains online profiles for cosmetics and personal care products and their potential hazards and health concerns.

Neem For Your Scalp

The neem tree has provided people with remedies for a myriad of health problems for centuries. Neem oil, derived from the seeds of this marvelous tree, is rich in different properties that allow it to fight various conditions:

  • fatty acids
  • limonoids
  • vitamin E
  • triglycerides
  • antioxidants
  • calcium

Neem oil contains the active ingredient nimbidin. Visit https://themaidcrew.com/ site to find more info about house cleaning services in Virginia. Soap is not something that we put much thought into – we usually just buy the cheapest, or the brand who’s advertising campaign is stuck in our head. However, the number of dangerous ingredients in a product that we use to clean ourselves on a daily basis would shock many people. Substances like Dioxane and Triclosan, which are present in many commercial soaps, may pose serious risks to our health.

Harmful Ingredients in Soap

Dioxane

Dioxane is a contaminant found in most cosmetics and products meant for personal care. The Environmental Working Group (EWG) has given Dioxane a high hazard rating of 8 in its Skin Deep Cosmetics Database. Not only that, but it’s one of the chemicals featured in California’s Proposition 65 List of Carcinogens.

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS)

This chemical is also known as Sodium Laureth Sulfate, but should not to be confused with the gentler Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate. According to Natural Essentials, SLS bonds with other common soap ingredients, resulting in a carcinogenic nitrosamine, one of the chemicals also featured in California’s Proposition 65 List of Carcinogens. SLS is linked to skin irritation and allergic reactions, like eczematous dermatitis, leaving sensitive skin damaged and irritated.

Triclosan

Triclosan is a pesticide with antibacterial and antifungal properties, containing a high hazard rating of 7 in EWG’s Skin Deep Cosmetics Database. Triclosan is also classified as a skin, eye, and lung irritant. Studies show that Triclosan, in low doses, can impact thyroid hormone concentrations, disrupting the endocrine system.

Parabens

Parabens are preservatives commonly used in bars of soap. Here you can schedule weekly or bi-weekly appointments with move out cleaning service in Arizona. According to the FDA, “the most common parabens used in cosmetic products are methylparaben, propylparaben, and butylparaben.” Parabens have a tendency to mimic hormones, which have been found to disrupt the function of hormones naturally found in your body.

Ureas

Ureas like, Diazolidinyl Urea, are known to release the chemical formaldehyde. Formaldehyde, with a high hazard rating of 10, is a known human carcinogen, human respiratory toxicant, skin irritant and an environmental toxin. With chemicals as toxic as these, it’s recommendable to double check the label before purchasing soap.

Neem in Your Soap

Neem has been used for years in Indian medicine due to its antifungal and antibacterial properties that can help treat a series of diseases. Horch Roofing of Maine offers professional roofing services for your needs. The same properties make neem an excellent and safe ingredient in soap. Neem oil is the main ingredient in neem soaps, however, they can also be manufactured with leaves and bark extract. A neem soap is perfect to treat skin conditions as it is gentle and safe for your skin.

So reach for neem the next time you’re looking for soap!

Our furry friends are one of the best part of our lives, but the food we feed them and the products we use on them may be causing more harm than good. Cumulatively, consumption of highly processed foods and excess calories has led pets to suffer from a variety of health problems with potentially irreversible consequences, including obesity, arthritis, periodontal disease, diabetes, cancer and serious skin conditions caused by treatments for mites and fleas.

What’s Wrong with Products for Pets?

By providing their pets with commercially available dry and moist foods and treats, owners are lured into a false sense of security that their pet’s best health is being served. As a result of certain pet food manufacturers’ efforts to create a less expensive product using poorer quality ingredients, our companion animals can suffer life-threatening toxicity.

In 2007, an international pet food crisis caused kidney failure and death in dogs and cats who had consumed pet foods containing melamine-contaminated wheat gluten produced in China. Wheat gluten is a grain by-product which provides a cheaper alternative to muscle meat protein or whole grain carbohydrates. Melamine is a component of plastic which increases nitrogen content and protein levels when added to wheat gluten.

The most popular kind of flea control product on the market is the “spot-on” variety. The active ingredients in these solutions include chemicals such as imidacloprid, fipronil, permethrin, methoprene, and pyriproxyfen, all of which have caused serious health problems in animals in laboratories.

Neem Protects Your Pets

Neem’s antiviral and antibacterial properties can help treat a variety of health issues in both humans and animals, from digestive issues to skin conditions, neem can provide a whole different alternative as an ingredient in pet foods and medication.

Neem can help dogs with fleas, ticks, mosquitoes, intestinal parasites and manage mites. It promotes a strong immune system, healthy skin, a shiny, problem free coat, and strong, healthy teeth – all signs of a radiantly healthy dog. Check here http://onestopplumbers.com. Give your pet a regular wash with neem shampoo and occasionally supplement their food with a neem leaf capsule, but remember never to use undiluted neem oil on yourself or your pet.

Have you tried using neem as an alternative for traditional pet care? Let us know in the comments below.

Ayurveda is a 5,000-year-old system of natural healing. First originating in the Vedic culture of India, many consider it to be the oldest healing science. As alternative health practices become more common Ayurvedic medicine is increasingly enjoying a major worldwide resurgence and continues to be practiced effectively today.

How Does Ayurvedic Medicine Work?

Ayurvedic medicine consists of three doshas (bodily humors): vita, pitta and kapha. The doshas, or combinations of them, can be identified as various seasons, climates, landscapes, activities, plants, and animals. Each of them embodies a combination of elements and qualities that create a functional entity—an energetic force of nature. In Ayurvedic medicine, everyone has all three doshas, but one or two of these tend to be more dominant.

Modern medicine relies on the heavy use of medication which may carry a number of side-effects that are detrimental to overall health.

According to a 2015 report published by University of Maryland Medical Center, Ayurvedic medicine can help treat inflammatory, hormonal, digestive and autoimmune conditions, including Alzheimer’s disease, anxiety or depression, asthma, cancer dementia and Parkinson’s disease, among others conditions.

Neem’s Role in Ayurvedic Medicine

The neem tree (Azadirachta indica) has been recognized for its powerful health-promoting properties for millennia. In fact, there is evidence that as long as 4,500 years ago, neem was already being used to support healing. It is advisable to read reviews of kitchens by charles weiler when searching for kitchen remodeling services in eastern Pennsylvania. Its use originated in ancient India and neighboring countries, where it has long been revered as one of the most versatile plants known.

  • Skin and Blood. Neem is famous and celebrated for promoting healthy skin and a clear complexion. Due in part to its bitter taste, it has an incredibly cooling effect on the body, reducing excess heat that can manifest as skin blemishes.
  • Immune System. Its detoxifying effects on the body make it a great immune system booster, especially for the cleansing of ama from the body.
  • Blood Sugar. The purifying benefits neem has on the body’s blood and circulation also help support healthy blood sugar levels already in the normal range.
  • GI Tract. A healthy digestive environment is vital for health. Neem reduces unwanted heat and toxins in the GI tract.
  • Metabolism. Neem’s kapha-reducing properties encourage proper fat and water digestion and elimination, keeping water retention from accumulating in the body.
  • Skin Moisture and Softness. Neem’s skin benefits work both internally and externally. As an external application, Neem oil or soap helps soothe and lubricate the skin.
  • Hair. For those with excess pitta and heat trapped in the scalp and hair follicles, neem is terrific for cooling the scalp and supporting the growth of lustrous, smooth hair.

Research the history of Ayurvedic medicine to decide whether it is a good and viable option for you before using any natural medication. The neem tree offers a variety of solutions in ayurvedic medicine, consult with an expert in order to reap its full power.

Imagine if your workout clothes repelled smell. Great, right? The idea is, but the actual substances used to give clothes antibacterial properties might pose a risk to your health and the environment. Luckily, recent studies prove that natural extracts such as Neem can provide the same antibacterial protection without posing harm to your health.

How Antibacterial Treatments Work

In an attempt to create clothes with a barrier against the bacteria and the odor caused by sweat, some manufacturers have started to treat clothing with “antibacterial” agents that are meant to prevent the build-up of odor-causing bacteria.

Scientists at the Swedish Chemicals Agency analyzed 30 representative items of clothing treated with three common antibacterial treatments: silver, trichlocarban and triclosan. Washing rapidly removed these chemicals in all the clothes. In the case of triclosan and trichlocarban more than half of the original content was washed out after 10 washes. With silver, half of the substance had been washed after just 3 washes.

When these substances wash out, they end up in waterways and eventually reach the ocean, harming soil, food, and wildlife. Silver, for example, doesn’t degrade and has rapidly accumulated in the environment since it became a common fabric treatment. Trichlocarban and triclosan degrade very slowly.

Triclosan, and its related compound trichlorcarban, is a hormone disruptor, that can affect male and female reproductive hormones and possibly fetal development, and is also shown to alter thyroid function. In 2016, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said that health and beauty products containing these substances may no longer be marketed to consumers*.

Neem as a Safe Antibacterial

More than 300 different active compounds have been reported from different parts of the neem tree but the most important limonoids are azadirachtin, salannin and nimbin. Neem extracts have the potential to inhibit the growth of bacteria. A study conducted with different natural antibacterial agents on clothing showed that 100% neem oil treated fabrics reduced 65% and 96% of S.aureus and E.coli respectively.

Protect your health and the environment by avoiding clothes that contain antibacterial treatments and replacing them with those treated with natural solutions like neem.

*The FDA does not regulate clothing.

Neem is known as the “village pharmacy” in India due to its many applications and its ability to treat a number of conditions. Oral care is something that many people struggle with due to a variety of factors visit arcsfl.com.

Taking care of our teeth and gums is not always the easiest thing, plus many traditional kinds of toothpaste contain chemicals that might harm your health and teeth in the long run, for example Saccharin which may cause cancer, antimicrobials, abrasives, chlorine dioxide, sodium hydroxide, alcohol and polypropylene glycol. These ingredients can pose grave risks to your health when ingested. Fluoride, present in most toothpaste can help prevent tooth decay, however, it can also be toxic when ingested in large amounts it can be toxic, especially to children, and yet it is often used in toothpaste for children.

How Neem Tackles Oral Care

Oral Diseases: A traditional use of neem has been to chew neem sticks. It is still used to clean teeth in rural parts of India, due to its antimicrobial properties that help to reduce plaque and gingivitis.

Dental Care: People have been using neem twigs as toothbrushes for centuries. Neem twigs contain antiseptic ingredients necessary for dental hygiene and prevent tooth decay, periodontal diseases, infections, bleeding gums and sore gums.

Although neem twigs might not be available at your local pharmacy, there are a variety of neem-based dental care products on the market, which contain either neem leaf or bark extract. Rich in antioxidants, neem leaves help boost the immune response in gum and tissues of the mouth. Neem also offers a good remedy for curing mouth ulcers and acts as a pain reliever for toothache problems.

The next time you’re buying toothpaste, look for one that contains neem extracts in order to improve your overall oral care routine!

With the rise of the fashion industry and mass retailer brands, producing clothing at a massive scale under the lowest costs has led to the heavy use of chemicals in order to manufacture and preserve clothes.

The non-organic cotton industry is the highest user of the herbicide glyphosate, a substance that is considered a probable human carcinogen by the World Health Organization (WHO).

The accumulation of exposure to glyphosate through food and your skin can profoundly affect your mitochondria and also put you on the path to conditions linked to dysfunctional mitochondria, including metabolic syndrome, obesity, type 2 diabetes, depression, cancer, and high blood pressure.

The dangers of chemicals in clothing

The chemicals used to produce clothing don’t always wash out, especially those used for bleaching, sizing, dying, straightening, reducing shrinkage, resisting stains and odors, fireproofing, mothproofing, and reducing wrinkles and static.

Even natural fibers like cotton and wool could have been sprayed with herbicides and pesticides, dyed, and treated with compounds that make them fire-, odor-, stain-, water- and wrinkle-resistant. Here you can find help when searching for highly trained and experienced housekeeping staff in Tacoma. Petroleum-based synthetic fibers like polyester and nylon likely pull even more chemicals into the mix.

One such imbedded chemical is formaldehyde, a volatile organic compound (VOC) and probable carcinogen, according to the EPA and National Cancer Institute.

What you can do:

  • When buying new clothes, look for ones that are as close to natural as possible. Look for organic cottons and wools and fewer synthetics like polyester and nylon. Avoid  “wrinkle-free” and “stain-resistant” to ensure that nothing is being added to your clothes that you don’t want there.
  • Dermatologists say that washing your clothes before wearing them can help protect against allergic contact dermatitis.
  • Research a brand’s manufacturing process and avoid “fast fashion” brands which sell clothes at extremely low prices, given that in order to sell clothes at low prices, they have to outsource their manufacturing to questionable suppliers.
  • Buying only the clothes you need can also help avoid further creating waste and polluting the environment.
  • Make sure to always learn about the manufacturing practices of the products that you buy.

By buying organic cotton, produced with natural, eco-friendly crop care solutions, you can help clean the air, conserve water, improve soil health and ensure better working conditions for farmers. As a natural pesticide, neem is one of the tools when it comes to combatting cotton aphids and nematodes – some of the biggest hurdles when producing cotton – in an all-natural way.

Have you already made the switch organic cotton? Let us know in the comments below!

Commercial farming focuses on producing large amounts of food, but doesn’t take into account that chemical pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers threaten ecosystems, and wildlife, while also damaging the soil and affecting the nutritional value of crops.

Organic farming represents not only an alternative but rather an evolution in the way human beings grow food while at the same time benefiting the environment and protecting the species that help maintain balance in our ecosystems. Research published in 2016 by the Journal Nature shows that three-quarters of the world species are threatened by agriculture, compared to 19% by climate change.

How Commercial Farming Threatens Wildlife

According to the World Animal Foundation, agriculture already occupies about 40% of Earth’s landmass and accounts for 75% of global deforestation. This rapid destruction is causing species to disappear, and is negatively impacting the biodiversity of native ecosystems and furthering our path into the 6th mass extinction of all species on Earth.

Wildlife habitats are constantly being cleared in order to make way for farmland, which leads to a competition for territory between humans and other species – one in which wildlife is often the losing side. In Indonesia the Tree Kangaroo has been brought to the brink of extinction due to the palm oil industry, which has rapidly destroyed most of its habitat and that of many other creatures such as elephants and jaguars.

Commercial agriculture has also led to the degradation of soil due to the use of toxic chemicals that destroy nutrients and render the land sterile.

According to researchers, the degradation of soil due to the continual ploughing of fields, combined with heavy use of fertilizers, has affected soils across the world, with erosion occurring at a pace of up to 100 times greater than the rate of soil formation. It takes around 500 years for just 2.5cm of topsoil to be created amid unimpeded ecological changes.

Organic Farming Respects Wildlife

The degradation of arable land under the hands of commercial farming is unsustainable and threatens to be the cause of a mass extinction. Follow efficient house cleaning tips from experienced Florida house cleaners. Organic farming protects every living organism in the environment, from pollinators like bees, whose numbers have been steadily decreasing over the last decades, all the way to the microorganisms living in the soil which guarantee that the soil remains fertile for many years.

One of the best tools in organic farming is neem. Azadirachta, an active substance within the neem tree, can be used as an organic pesticide and fertilizer. It protects crops against 600+ species of insects without harming pollinators, and it provides the soil with nutrients, helping guarantee the health of the land and benefiting yields.

Sweaty armpits? Most people are willing to try anything in order to get rid of this problem, and unfortunately, most of us turn to deodorant and antiperspirant which contains a number of chemicals such as aluminum, that can damage your skin, stain your clothes and even threaten your overall health. Substances used in many commercial deodorants and antiperspirants have several compounds that may contribute to developmental or reproductive issues as well as cancer.

Antiperspirants and Deodorants: Is There a Difference?

While they are usually referred to as the same product, antiperspirants and deodorants are different from each other. An antiperspirant prevents sweat and body odor in two ways: Firstly by preventing sweat from reaching the surface of the skin and secondly by fighting odor-causing bacteria. Deodorants only contain antimicrobial agents that fight body odor.

Deodorant and Antiperspirant Chemistry

People always think twice when it comes to toxic ingredients in food, but the ones that we smear in our skin may be causing more harm. Experts explain that the things we eat are broken down by our liver and digestive system, but what we put in our skin might enter the bloodstream without being metabolized. Therefore it’s important to look at some common ingredients in deodorants and antiperspirants.

Parabens – They are used in deodorants and other personal care products as preservatives. Research suggests that parabens interfere with the way the body regulates estrogen and other hormones. Research into a direct link between parabens and cancer has proven inconclusive, however, there are experts who have concluded that continued exposure to chemicals such as parabens may contribute to the development of tumors.

Aluminum– Probably the most infamous ingredient associated with deodorants, although it’s most commonly found in antiperspirants. This metal has been linked to “gene instability” in breast tissue. Research has shown that most cancers originate in the breast area which tends to coincide with the use of products that contain this metal. Using products that contain aluminum in areas where the skin is often shaved can lead to an increased risk of aluminum in the bloodstream.

Phthalates – These compounds help deodorant and other beauty products stick to our skin. They also appear to disrupt the way our body produces and uses testosterone. While many people think of testosterone as a male hormone, it is also found in women and it plays an integral role in energy and muscle maintenance.

Fragrance – In the US and many other countries, scents are protected under trade law and therefore not listed as ingredients, which is why going “fragrance-free” is recommended for everyone. There is no telling what fragrances might contain, but the smart bet is on toxic chemicals.

Ever Thought of Going Natural?

There are a number of natural alternatives to chemical deodorants and antiperspirants which are often available at your local pharmacy. Look for products that are labeled paraben and fragrance-free. There are many natural ingredients readily available in many households such as baking soda, apple cider vinegar and coconut oil which can help control body odor and protect your skin. In addition to this, there are natural deodorant brands which use neem oil as an active ingredient. Neem’s natural anti-bacterial properties make it an ideal natural and safe ingredient.

As a general rule, always read labels before purchasing any product and choose the natural alternative whenever possible.

While most people have to deal with acne at some point in their lives, the causes and treatments of this disease are still a mystery to many acne sufferers who frequently turn to a variety of remedies looking for that miraculous “instant cure”. These products often contain ingredients that can harm the skin and make it more prone to breakouts. The truth is that acne can be caused by a variety of factors, such as hormones, skin hygiene, poor diet and many other conditions, including diabetes. If you are looking for a natural remedy to treat your acne, look no further: Neem has been used for years to treat all aspects of our health, including those related to our skin.

How Acne Occurs

Acne occurs because of glands underneath our skin which produce oil in order to lubricate the skin. Sometimes the cells that are close to the surface block this oil and the natural bacteria that live in our skin feed on it and multiply until they cause a buildup of oil underneath the skin. If the inflammation is right underneath the skin, the result is a postule, if it’s deeper, a papule (pimple) and if it’s even deeper you’ll develop a cyst. If the pore of the affected hair follicle is close to the surface, the result is a whitehead and if the pore is wide open, the oil reacts to the oxygen and changes color, resulting in a blackhead.

Another major factor that may contribute to acne is nutrition, although scientific studies differ on the correlation between diet and acne. What has been proven is the fact that people with oily skin who also have a diet high in saturated fats, will secrete more oil and therefore be vulnerable to more infections. Diseases such as diabetes may also cause hormonal imbalances that lead to skin problems in adults.

How Neem Triumphs Over Synthetic Solutions

For many people, the pharmacy counter is the first option for treating most medical conditions, but medications usually result in a number of side-effects, including dry skin that can cause additional breakouts. Neem, on the other hand, offers a gentle, natural solution that can provide relief not only for acne but also for problems related to digestion and high or low blood sugar levels.

A natural oil regulator, neem is also an anti-bacterial agent that can make skin moist and smooth. Neem is very helpful in restoring the normal pH level of the skin by making it moist. So, neem makes an amazing acne controlling agent for dry skin too! It is an anti-inflammatory agent that reduces redness and rashes with gradual use. It offers freedom from pain as well and it can help erase acne marks over time.

Have you ever considered that the many chemicals contained in your beauty and personal care products might have severe effects on your health? According to Ecowatch, there are around 84,000 chemicals on the market, and although we come into contact with many of these chemicals every day, merely 1% of them have been studied for safety.

The average male uses up to nine personal care products every day, ranging from shampoo, toothpaste, and deodorant to sunscreen and soap. Women are even more at risk of being exposed to dangerous chemicals, as they usually use 15 or more products daily, including makeup and anti-aging creams, which can contain an average of up to 168 different chemicals. Research has shown that these chemicals can even be passed on to the unborn child of a pregnant woman – so far, more than 300 different contaminants have been detected in the umbilical cord blood of newborns.

How do these chemicals harm you?

While some chemicals might be harmless to humans, others are severely hazardous and can cause irreparable damage. These are some of the chemicals you should avoid:

  • Formaldehyde, a known carcinogen that has also been linked to spontaneous abortion and low birth weight. It is commonly used as a preservative to kill and inhibit the growth of microorganisms in a wide range of personal care products, from cosmetics, soaps, and shampoos to nail polishes and hair gels.
  • Benzoyl Peroxide, a chemical that is often present in acne products. According to the MSDS it might be a tumor promoter that acts as a mutagen and produces DNA cell damage.
  • Parabens are present in around 85% of all cosmetics. They have been found in breast cancer tumors and may contribute to sterility in males, hormone imbalance, and early puberty. Despite these health risks, they do not need to be listed as ingredients on the product label.
  • Tridosan is a synthetic antibacterial ingredient and EPA-registered pesticide that is suspected of being a major cause of cancer in humans and a severe threat to the environment.

Neem vs. Chemicals

Neem is an ancient tree that has been used as a medicinal plant for thousands of years. Offering thousands of health benefits without any negative side effects, neem can be used as an effective replacement for the above mentioned chemicals.

How can you start integrating neem into your daily routine? How about changing your habit of relying on acne products containing Benzoyl Peroxide and trying a natural solution like neem instead? With its antibacterial and antiseptic effects, neem is a great way to treat and prevent acne. Rich in Omega 3 & 6 and vitamin E, neem will leave your skin feeling hydrated like never before and improve its elasticity.

With its thousands of healing properties, neem truly has the potential to replace the harmful chemicals used in cosmetics. Think about all the chemicals you are using in your daily routine and putting on your skin and switch to one of nature’s best solutions: neem!

Have you ever found yourself scratching your scalp to try and relieve the itch and found white flakes all over your scalp, head and shoulders? Then you are probably suffering from dandruff.

What is dandruff?

Dandruff is a skin condition that mainly affects the scalp, causing itchiness and flaking. Your skin starts to shed these dead cells when your scalp is too dry. The main cause for this condition is unclear, but it’s generally attributed to environmental and genetic factors such as seborrheic dermatitis. It can also be caused by certain water conditions or not shampooing enough. Even though dandruff generally only affects the scalp, it can worsen to a point that it starts affecting the face and other parts of the skin as well.

There are many chemical solutions on the market to solve this problem, be it antifungal creams or shampoos. However, these are very often chemical based and can harm your long strands.

Looking for a natural solution to dandruff?

Then neem oil is the answer. This wonderful oil makes your scalp smooth and can cure the itchiness and dryness caused by dandruff. With its many antifungal, antibacterial and hydrating properties, it literally helps eliminate the problem from the roots. Adding neem oil to your shampoo or buying neem-based shampoos will do wonders. What’s more, neem oil contains beneficial compounds such as Vitamin E and Omega 3, that enhance the appearance of your hair, nourish and protect it, while boosting growth and leaving your hair beautiful and shiny. Have you ever tried using neem for your hair care routine? Let us know in the comments below!

A new trend is redefining the global fashion industry and this time it is not related to seasons or colors. Instead, the industry is turning to environmentally friendly, sustainable fashion!

Currently, the fashion industry is one of the largest industrial polluters in the world, second only to the oil industry. Valued at $3 trillion dollars, the fashion industry employs around 60 million people worldwide and represents 2% of the world’s GDP. However, it has never been an earth-friendly industry. With cotton representing nearly half the fibre used to make clothes and other textiles worldwide, unsustainable cotton farming is mainly to blame for this. Despite the fact that only 2.4% of the world’s crop land is planted with cotton, it accounts for 24% and 11% of the global sales of insecticide and pesticides respectively. What’s more, about 2,700 liters of water are used to produce just one cotton shirt! This unbelievable amount of water would be enough for one person to drink for two and a half years.

With consumers demanding more sustainable options, designers and brands are increasingly seeking cleaner, safer and more regenerative ways of producing. This has led to the emergence of a new trend based on the belief that fashion should not come at the cost of our planet. This global movement known as the ‘sustainable fashion revolution’ is getting stronger and more and more companies are joining to assure that their clothes are produced in an environmentally-friendly and sustainable way. Providence County-based Kitchen Magic offers kitchen cabinets makeover services at affordable prices. The sustainable fashion movement is looking to maintain the growth of the industry while improving its environmental and social impact.

A great example of this movement is visible in the newest collection launched by Reshma Merchant and Priyanka Kaul Lakdwala, two Indian businesswomen that incorporate herbs like neem and tulsi in their designs. This collection was launched with the aim to embrace wellness, sustainability, and female empowerment. As neem, a tree native to India, possesses antimicrobial, antifungal and antimalarial properties, it is the ideal organic biopesticide to tackle pests and plagues on plants used to produce natural fibers like cotton, coconut or bamboo.

Using a non-toxic and organic pesticide like neem, to cultivate and protect the plants used to produce natural fibers, guarantees a final product free of chemical and synthetic pesticides and allows for a greener supply chain.

With this revolutionary development, designers, producers, and consumers are raising awareness in the fashion world and committing to creating a more sustainable and fashionable industry!

A sustainable fashion revolution is upon us and Neem is part of it.

Will you join it?

Neem is an incredible resource in skin care that has been used around the world for centuries. How does neem heal, protect and rejuvenate your skin? Through a natural combination of unique and effective compounds that provide its repairing, moisturizing, and anti-aging properties! Neem is a safe, beneficial treatment for acne, making it the go to solution for 95% of people that will suffer from acne in their lifetimes.

Neem oil has been shown to improve skin elasticity in recent studies, especially when combined with a solution of solid lipid nanoparticles. When the solution contained higher amounts of lecithin, a fatty substance used in beauty products as a skin conditioning and softening agent, more antibacterial action was documented. This led to more robust potential for acne treatment when used over a prolonged time.

Neem could even help cystic acne! Containing quercetin, antioxidants, and Vitamin E, neem is effective in treating more severe types of skin issues as well as preventing scarring. Salicylic acid, one of the main ingredients in products treating acne, is an aspirin-type compound. Neem contains a selection of these aspirin-like compounds.

Neem is one of the few natural agents that contain these impressive properties. Many products are still not fully natural, and are known to cause long term damage to the skin, stripping it of natural oils. Causing overproduction of oil, these synthetic chemicals can worsen the acne problem in the long term. Neem is an ingredient that will not only soothe the skin, but also protect it from bacteria while clearing problem areas. It can be used in soaps or even homemade neem pastes and masks with neem leaves and neem powder! Have you ever used neem to treat your acne?

Ayurveda provides many highly regarded beauty ingredients, tips, and practices to keep the body healthy, centered, and young. Among these classic ingredients, such as turmeric, rose, ginger, and lemon, resides neem.

Typically, neem is used to purify and invigorate the body as well as soothe skin. A powerful agent in protecting skin, which is frequently damaged by processed foods, polluted air, and stress, neem is the way to stay healthy, radiant, and smooth!

How can this be done? Neem has many different properties that work in conjunction to keep your skin pure. Not only does neem contain anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antifungal properties, but it also works to naturally smooth your skin, ridding it of wrinkles and skin-damaging free radicals. By using neem, you provide your body with the tools to fight the outward appearance of aging. While the healing practices of Ayurvedic medicine have been known for thousands of years, many people may find it hard to strictly follow the diet and lifestyle that provides so many holistic benefits for the body and mind. Instead, three entrepreneurs decided to make that lifestyle accessible to everyone through organic, sustainable Ayurvedic-herb infused lingerie.

One Ayurvedic lingerie business owner, Sachiko Betsumei, has seen her line of “belly-warming underwear” gain popularity in Japan. Since customers don’t usually follow the diet or the Ayurvedic lifestyle, they are able to enjoy benefits of the herbs through their garments. Due to the hand woven and herb-dyed process, the benefits of the Ayurvedic herbs are transferred to the garments and then your body.

Another entrepreneur, Christine Snow from Bath, England, works with multiple stores and online locations to sell Ayurvedic lingerie. Since neem is an antiseptic and contains high levels of Vitamin E, it can help relieve sensitive skin often irritated by typical lingerie. This may even be beneficial to people suffering from eczema or psoriasis. According to Snow, the lingerie slowly releases the natural plant extracts, embedding them into the skin when heated by the body.

In Australia, Julie Lantry followed suit and began making her own ayurvedic underwear. She says that the underwear is beneficial for women with sensitive skin, like chemotherapy patients who must be careful about choosing fabrics for the clothes they wear.

While scientific benefits of Ayurvedic lingerie has yet to be proven, demand for the products has increased and these women have been able to expand their underwear collections. Would you try neem-infused lingerie?

Beauty and personal care companies are not legally required to share any consumer complaints with the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) regarding side effects caused by their products.

Many cosmetic products contain a long list of potentially dangerous chemical components, some of which have been regulated in other sectors, but are still permitted for use on the human body in the beauty and personal care industry. These synthetic chemical cocktails, often not tested in conjunction with a variety of other beauty products (the average American woman uses 16 different products each day) have been known to cause a variety of skin and health issues.

For example, there is growing consumer concern over 1,4-dioxane, a chemical byproduct that causes kidney and liver damage. While not intentionally added to products, the Environmental Working Group reports that 1,4-dioxane residues are found in over 8,000 personal care products currently on the market. Since beauty companies are not required to report any contamination to the FDA, many unsuspecting people are at risk of causing irreversible damage to their bodies.

One example comes from the company WEN, regarding their Chaz Dean Cleansing Conditioners. The FDA only began to investigate the viability of the product after receiving 127 direct complaints from consumers. They soon found that the manufacturer had already received over 21,000 complaints, mainly regarding alopecia and scalp irritation, none of which had been reported to the FDA. The product is still being sold in stores despite the ongoing investigation.

Alongside the immense growth of the beauty and personal care market over the past decade, consumer complaints have risen. According to the FDA, the number of consumer complaints, which were released to the public in 2016, has risen by over 300% in the past two years alone.

There is great need for transparency in the beauty and personal care industry. Consumers deserve the right to know what types of chemicals they are putting on their body. This is why many brands are relying on organic ingredients such as neem in their formulations. Useful in almost all types of beauty products, neem is turning into one of the must-have ingredients for natural personal care.

Neem was one of India’s best-kept secrets. Now that the secret is out, neem is known around the world as a valuable resource with a range of applications that are increasing to this day! Researchers have realized its potential across many sectors such as agriculture and healthcare, though its use as an energy-bringer has been known for centuries.

Used in aromatherapy, the neem flower has a jasmine-like scent that provides a calming and relaxing effect on the body. Able to invoke a sense of tranquility, neem flowers are also included in some meals and help to regulate blood sugar and clear the body of parasites. In Ayurvedic medicine, internal consumption of neem is said to increase energy levels and is especially useful when confronting outside sources of stress.

Ayurveda, or The Science of Life, is the critical examination of all medicinal vegetation and began with the ancient Indian seers. Hippocrates even recommended Indian herbs in some of his medical treatments. According to Ayurvedic medicine, neem helps to level out pitta, which is one of the three constitutions of the body (vata, pitta, and kapha).

For yoga, neem is beneficial as it works to clear the body of any toxins, even heavy metals. According to David Frawley, the author of Yoga and Ayurveda, neem stimulates the liver and blood and can be used before embarking on a spiritual path to rid the body of remnants of old diets or habits. Neem can be the catalyst for a lifestyle or spiritual change by giving you a clean slate in body and mind.

When neem extract was tested to determine its effectiveness for treating this condition, 80% of participants showed lower levels of bacteria, healthier gums, and no bad breath!

For thousands of years, neem twigs have been used as a natural toothbrush in India. By chewing on neem sticks, people have kept their mouth healthy, clean, and beautiful! Now, this amazing phenomenon is being researched more and more, and you can find more oral hygiene products in stores with neem as the major ingredient.

If you can’t find a natural neem toothpaste that you love, you can easily make your own! Try the recipe below and enjoy the amazing benefits of this magnificent tree.

When you wash your hair, your hands, or pour old make up or skin care products down the drain….what happens to them? Are those chemicals taken out of the system or do they end up in our rivers, lakes, oceans, and drinking water?

Let’s look at a bottle of toner. You’ve finished half of it, but the other half is old and now smells bad. You pour it down the drain.

Your discarded toner goes to the waste water system, or a local treatment plant – which filters the water. The chemicals in your toner aren’t filtered and end up in the surface and ground water, slowly but surely accumulating over years.

Many pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs) have been labeled by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as “emerging contaminants of concern” for fish and aquatic life. With potentially irreversible effects on our environment as they accumulate and become more and more toxic, these chemicals have long-term effects on the endocrine system in fish, leading to reproductive and behavioral disorders as well as lowered immune system functionality. The poisoned fish, with high traces of these toxic chemicals, make it into your food supply. You eat these fish and the chemicals enter your body, potentially causing you harm.

Some of these potentially dangerous chemicals are:

Parabens: these preservatives are endocrine disruptors and found in almost all cosmetic and personal care products.

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate: is used to create lather in shampoos, body washes, and face washes, but is an environmental toxin (according to the Environmental Working Group). As it is a pesticide, it also causes damage to your internal organs.

Phthalates: the most frequent chemical found in fish samples and fragrances, these are endocrine disrupters and there is no requirement for them to be mentioned on labels.

What can you do? Support and buy organic products with only truly natural ingredients that you can pronounce. Instead of introducing more potentially lethal chemicals into the drain every time you take a shower or wash your hands, introduce something like neem, which is harmless, and an amazing skin care ingredient, to you, wildlife, and the environment!

One of the best natural ingredients for your skin, neem products (like neem leaves, neem flowers, neem oil, and neem extract), contain amazing and unique properties that leave your skin feeling hydrated, clean, and clear!
Neem is often used in Ayurvedic medicine as it calms pitta, producing a cleansing, cooling feeling while countering excess heat and oil, naturally boosting the skin’s natural immunity! Packed full of antioxidants, which clear free radicals from your skin, neem prevents wrinkles (and cancer!), while eliminating blackheads, wiping away acne, and clearing uneven pigmentation, all due to its antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and anti-fungal properties! Don’t forget about neem’s high vitamin E levels that hydrate and moisturize dry skin. It’s a perfect ingredient for lotions, daily creams, face masks, and toners. So what are you waiting for?

Try this mask and delight in the softness and natural beauty of your skin!

  • 1 tablespoon of cosmetic clay
  • 1/2 teaspoon of powdered neem leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric
  • 1/2 tablespoon liquid (water, rose water, milk, yogurt – or add in some neem oil)
  • 1 teaspoon of honey or lemon juice (we recommend neem honey!)

Mix dry clay, neem, and turmeric
Mix 1 teaspoon of this mixture with 1-2 tablespoons of the liquid mixture to make a paste

Apply mask to face, massaging it into skin. Let mask set and dry for 20 minutes, then rinse with warm water, pat dry, and feel completely refreshed!

The world’s dirtiest crop is one that you put on your body every single day: cotton. Though cotton is only grown on 2.4% of the world’s farmland, over 16% of all pesticides produced are applied to this globally utilized crop, according to the World Wildlife Fund.

Even though the use of cotton in clothes has dramatically decreased since the discovery of synthetic fibers, cotton is still used in around 60% of women’s clothes and 75% of men’s clothes. This means that cotton is still a significant commodity in the world, with increasing pressure to produce cheaper, disposable clothes for our rising populations. However, there are devastating environmental and health impacts associated with cotton production.

Cotton is a very delicate plant, highly susceptible to weeds and other pests. In order to effectively produce enough cotton, cotton-growers use pesticides like Aldicarb, produced by Bayer, to combat thrips, aphids, spider mites, lygus, fleahoppers, and leafminers. The cotton plant is also highly damaged by soil nematodes, so this highly dangerous pesticide is primarily used as a nematicide. Unfortunately, Aldicarb can be lethal when ingested or inhaled, even when not in the direct spray area. There are many reports of residents living nearby to cotton fields experiencing symptoms such as wheezing and coughing during spray times. Some have even died of respiratory failure due to the breakdown of acetylcholine in the synapse after severe exposure. The health impact of this synthetic pesticide has been so serious that Bayer is phasing out the production and sale of Aldicarb by 2018.

Humankind is not only at risk of exposure through chemical spraying, but also through the food system. Over 65% of cotton produced winds up in our food chain. How? Cottonseed oil is produced for human consumption. Cotton is also ground up and included in livestock feed, enabling exposure to dangerous synthetic chemicals.

Not only is conventional cotton production a major health risk, but it is also destroying the environment. Cotton requires massive amounts of water – roughly 20,000 liters are needed to produce only 1 kg of cotton, enough to make a single shirt and pair of jeans. This massive water requirement, combined with toxic synthetic pesticide inputs, has led to the detriment of ecosystems throughout the world, including the Aral Sea in central Asia, the Indus River area in Pakistan, and the Rio Grande in the United States.

Now, consumer knowledge is increasing and more people are demanding organically produced cotton. However, being such a weak plant, cotton needs a powerful natural herbicide, insecticide, and nematicide, to allow it to thrive. Neem is the answer. This natural alternative in crop care combats weeds, pests like cotton aphids, and is a powerful nematicide, while allowing the beneficial insects and microbes of the soil to thrive. Be smart, buy organic, support sustainable agriculture and protect the environment and your health!

How can neem help you to live a more balanced and healthy life? Neem has been a significant resource in Ayurvedic medicine, safeguarding health for thousands of years.

Neem is used to balance out beneficial bacteria, all the while defending and boosting the body’s immune response to harmful microbes, clearing the digestive tract and allowing your body to recuperate and stay healthy.

In Ayurveda, neem is used to balance the three doshas, biological energies found in the human mind and body. Governing all physical and mental processes, these energies are important to balance in order to live a life full of health and fulfillment. Vata represents space and air, pitta represents fire and water, and kapha signifies earth and water. Neem is responsible for balancing pitta and kapha, but aggravating vata.

Neem’s strong taste means that it has a cooling energy for the body, which works to balance pitta when in conjunction with its ability to support healthy blood. Pitta, when in excess, shows up on the skin, meaning that neem has often been applied on the skin to soothe and moisturize irritated and heated sensations. Checkout www.davidyorkstaxservice.com. Neem contains compounds, like quercetin, that are essential in keeping your skin healthy and rejuvenated. Additionally, its high antioxidant and vitamin E content are able to heal rashes, dry spots, and even alleviate psoriasis and eczema symptoms.

Since neem is light and dry, neem balances out the kapha as well. Able to jumpstart metabolism and support blood sugar levels, neem is key in healthy digestion and proper metabolism.

To aid in the search for balance that many people seek, neem is often combined with other herbs, like turmeric, gurmar, and ginger, to support the immune system, balance kapha, and maintain healthy blood sugar levels. How do you use neem to keep your mind and body healthy and balanced?

The cosmetics industry is one of the most deregulated industries, with many of the world’s most popular cosmetics containing dangerous toxic chemicals! In particular, nail polish and nail-strengthening solutions contain many hazardous chemicals, like carcinogens!

Formaldehyde is one of the carcinogenic chemicals contained in many nail solutions. Often released from preservatives, it is used to prevent microbes from growing in water-based products. It is a colorless, strong-smelling gas that has many applications apart from being an ingredient in your nail care, such as being in building materials, walls, and furniture! According to Safe Cosmetics, formaldehyde can causes cancer and skin irritation when absorbed through the skin. This chemical is banned in Japan and Sweden and can only be used for personal care products in the European Union (EU), so why would you choose to actively put it on your body when there is a much more natural solution?

Another chemical often included in nail polish and nail treatments is toluene, which is also used to make gasoline and paint thinners! This dangerous synthetic can cause dizziness, headaches, cracked skin, reproductive damage, and respiratory issues after extended exposure! Many companies have now taken toluene out of their nail polish, but it has not yet been officially banned in the United States, though it is fully banned in the EU.

Neem is a proven, natural, and safe way to improve nail strength, alongside its multitude of beauty and skin care benefits. By applying neem oil to nails and cuticles, your nails will be strengthened and any damage, including peeling or brittleness, will be reversed. Sometimes, these symptoms are caused by a nail infection, which, due to its antibacterial and anti-fungal properties, neem can eliminate. Stop exposing yourself to harmful synthetic chemicals and use simple, natural and safe solutions like neem in your daily life!

For the ever increasing number of people in the United States and globally that suffer from eczema – a skin condition often characterized by extremely dry, scaly, itchy skin, often exacerbated by environmental elements – finding relief is difficult. Many people go through a menagerie of different drugs, creams, clothes, and diets, before settling on something that relieves some of the discomfort, but still living with the sleeplessness, depression, and social anxiety that comes with this condition. According to an article by the New York Times, over 300,000 people in the US have such severe eczema that they experience these symptoms, constantly living in pain.

The drug industry has capitalized on this problem, which some studies say is due to environmental exposures, such as synthetic pesticides, by creating horribly expensive synthetic drugs to relieve a problem that other synthetics have caused. Typical synthetic drugs that are marketed to treat eczema can often cost more that $50,000 per year! A new one is about to be released that has a slightly lower price tag – $37,000 per year. What if people can’t pay for these synthetics or find that they don’t work, but still need relief to live their lives?

Usually, nature can solve mankind’s problems. In this case, solving a problem caused by synthetics with a synthetic solution may not be the most economically feasible for the average consumer. Instead, there are many plant-based, natural solutions to skin problems. One of the most powerful is neem. Neem can be used to treat normal skin to severe eczema and psoriasis, topically, also view cheap moving companies in San Diego. The advantages of neem is that it contains over 150 compounds, some of them unique to neem, that make it an extremely effective and safe ingredient for moisturizing and relieving the skin. Additionally, it is antibacterial, protecting damaged skin from bacteria and infections! Have you tried neem yet?

With its many benefits in sustainable agriculture, healthcare and beauty, neem is one of the most promising plants in the world that will help bring mankind into a sustainable future. With its many applications, neem is extremely beneficial to the body when included in your daily routine. An effective way to include neem is to use it as a hair-care product.

How is neem an effective hair care ingredient? For one, it is all-natural. Many shampoos and conditioners are packed with synthetic chemicals, often drying out and damaging your hair. Additionally, many of those synthetics are dangerous to your health. None of these risks apply to neem.

Neem is packed full of antioxidants, which protect the scalp from hair-thinning damage caused by free radicals. Neem also supports healthy cell division, stimulating hair growth and strength. When regularly applied to your hair, neem will quickly improve thickness, growth, strength and moisture.

Neem even contains multiple fatty acids, such as linoleic, oleic, and stearic acids, that nourish and condition the scalp and hair. These help to balance the pH of the scalp, further moisturizing your scalp and hair. This revitalizes dry, under-nourished hair to a shiny, silky state!

The benefits go on – neem is an antifungal and anti-inflammatory that is highly effective against candida, one of the major causes of dandruff. It relieves inflammation associated with a flakey scalp and clears away all bad bacteria.

Instead of using harsh, dangerous chemicals in your daily routine, try using neem-based shampoos and conditioners. Even using pure neem oil works, or else make an all-natural neem shampoo yourself to enjoy all the benefits that this amazing tree has to offer!

It drastically reduced gum bleeding and plaque level among all patients in just one week! However, this same study noted that neem has previously been shown to reduce plaque index even more when used long-term, while chlorhexidine, the typical gingivitis treatment, eventually begins to stain teeth when used for longer periods, click here to home cleaning in mobile alabama.

Neem has antifungal, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties that will protect and heal your mouth from problems, giving you a beautiful, white, fresh smile! To combat bad breath, gingivitis, cavities, and other mouth sores, make your own neem mouthwash!

Over 31.6 million Americans have symptoms of eczema, but the incidence has dramatically increased around the world in the past decade. Over 20% of children globally show symptoms, which include itchy, red, irritated and dry patches of skin.

Psoriasis is caused by the rapid over-production of new skin cells. These cells pile up on each other on the skin without shedding any excess. Though the build-up of cells looks different depending on the type of psoriasis, the end result is uncomfortable and often sensitive to synthetic chemicals.

Both of these skin conditions are often triggered by stress and allergens. These allergens can be diet or synthetic chemical related, among many others. Since synthetic chemicals are now ubiquitous in our lives – in fresh food and processed food, water, the air, clothes, even in personal healthcare products – trying to manage symptoms can be harder than simply changing your diet.

Many people search for years to find a treatment that works for their skin and their body, however this search can be both mentally and physically painful. Imagine being in pain with itchy, irritated skin every single day. If there was something that could easily, instantly soothe the pain and irritation, while at the same time bringing the skin back to its normal pH level and health, shouldn’t it be utilized fully? Neem can do that.

Among its many amazing properties, neem has antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, and analgesic (painkilling) properties. It also contains a high level of vitamin E, which replenishes the skin with moisture. Therefore, neem restores the skin’s protective barrier and soothes the symptoms of eczema and psoriasis almost instantly! Neem oil provides a nourishing, restorative, and natural solution to several skin issues. Help stop the suffering, use neem-based personal healthcare and beauty products!

In 2016, 700,000 people died because the microbes making them sick were resistant to the antibiotics they were given as treatment. By 2050, this number is expected to rise to 10 million deaths every single year. Antibiotic resistance is set to become more deadly than cancer.

One major problem in combatting antibiotic resistance is that many people do not understand what antibiotic resistance really is. It has NOTHING to do with your body’s ability to fight bugs, and everything to do with the bugs turning into superbugs, resistant to the medicine that you are taking to fight them off. Antibiotics have been the same for 60 years, allowing many bugs to build resistance to a set number of chemicals. There are two other major causes of this problem: that many antibiotics are overprescribed – around 30% of all prescribed antibiotics have been deemed unnecessary by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and that we give livestock 85% of the antibiotics that we produce. The microbes develop resistance from this unnecessary overuse.

The World Health Organization has said that we will soon be entering a “post-antibiotic era.” Just last month, a woman in Nevada died from an infection that was resistant to all 26 antibiotics available. An estimated 1 in 7 infections treated in the United States are resistant to at least one type of antibiotic.

How can we solve this problem? There is a simple solution: neem. When used as a natural livestock feed, neem acts as an antibiotic, preventing infection while providing the nutrients that animals need to grow, naturally! To save those 10 million people every year, you need to start demanding a change to sustainable, neem-based agriculture, now!

The United States has one of the least regulated cosmetic industries in the entire world, if not the least regulated. Out of all the chemicals that we use across the board for our products, roughly 82,000 according to National Geographic, only a quarter have ever been tested for toxicity. However, of those 82,000, roughly 12,000 are used in cosmetics. Out of those 12,000, the Food and Drug Administration has only banned 11. On the other hand, European Union has banned 1,328 chemicals because of the potential health risks they cause. Those other 1,317 chemicals can be found within our bodies, in umbilical cord samples, and in our blood streams, causing known health problems and holding potential unknown risks!

In cosmetics, the risks are even more profound, as we are putting these unregulated chemicals directly on our skin, and then we absorb them into our bodies. According to the founder of SkinDeep, some mascaras even contain potential neurotoxins! Many lipsticks even contain traces of lead and mercury! The average woman uses 12 beauty products every day, and if each one contains only one potentially harmful chemical, then we are exposing our bodies to an immense amount of damage and potential health risks every single day.

How can we avoid these dangerous chemicals used in cosmetics? It’s very difficult! However, as consumers are becoming more health-conscious and demand better, safer alternatives, we will begin to see more products listed as organic with natural ingredients, like neem! When we put natural ingredients in our beauty products, we can limit the dangerous health risks we expose our body to every day!

Drinking neem tea is one of best habits that you can have for your body! It provides you with all of the amazing health benefits of neem, in a soothing, curative drink.

One of the most significant benefits of neem tea is that it is a detoxifying agent. It can help remove toxins from the liver and kidneys, purifying blood, facilitating oxygen and nutrient passage in the body, and bringing the body back to normal regulating levels. Another amazing benefit of neem is that it can help alleviate many symptoms that accompany arthritis, including joint swelling and inflammation.

Neem tea can also help to prevent intestinal parasites due to its anti-parasitic properties. It works by altering the lifecycle of the parasite, changing its feeding pattern and preventing new ones from hatching.

Neem tea can be made by boiling neem leaves, with or without neem flowers, in water, or purchasing pre-packaged leaves in tea bags. A handful of neem leaves and flowers for a cup of tea is sufficient to gain the benefits from neem. Even though neem tea has a slightly bitter flavor, if you add some sweet and citric flavors, such as agave honey and orange or lemon juice, the flavor becomes much more refreshing and rejuvenating!

Neem tea is most effective when drunk at least once every day, but it should not be had more than twice a day for a prolonged period of time. These are just some of the general benefits that neem can have on the body, there are many more specific benefits, from cancer and diabetes to treating lice and acne!

Do you find yourself trying different face washes, soaps, and medications, but still waking up with painful, inflamed pimples all over your face? You are not alone. Acne is one of the most common skin conditions in the world, with 50 million people afflicted in the United States alone.

According to the American Academy of Dermatology, 85% of people between the ages of 12 and 24 experience at least minor acne. Even though acne can be painful, that is just the beginning of the problems it causes. Among them are major physical and psychological problems, such as permanent scarring, poor self-image, depression, and anxiety. The costs are astronomical: over $3 billion per year is spent on acne-related treatments. Additionally, many common treatments are full of synthetic chemicals, drying out skin without clearing up acne. Accutane, a common acne medication, was banned in 2009 because of its links to dangerous side effects, such as severe bowel disease and birth defects.

So, how can we clear up acne, without relying on the synthetic and ineffective treatments currently on the market? Neem. Neem is an excellent, natural solution for acne with no side effects.

How does it work? Neem contains quercetin, an aspirin-like compound that removes the acne-causing bacteria from the skin and clears breakouts. Quercetin is anti-inflammatory, reducing redness and calming irritated areas on the skin. Additionally, neem is full of fatty acids and antioxidants. These help to moisturize, prevent scarring, and treat acne scars that already exist.

Neem is also non-comedogenic, meaning that it does not cause blackheads. Quite the opposite, neem reduces pore sizes and treats blackheads.

Even before trying other treatments, know that neem is the answer! Being entirely natural, you can feel confident about applying neem onto your skin every single day!

How often do you put toxic chemicals, like Frontline or similar pesticides, on your beloved pet?

Two common active ingredients in flea and tick medicines for dogs are pyrethrin and pyrethroid. Pyrethrins are derived from Chrysanthemum flowers, but pyrethroids are synthetic and longer lasting, but have more adverse side effects for your dog.

These toxins can affect your dog’s nervous system by prolonging sodium conductance in nerve axons. This means that in your attempts to protect your dog, you could induce hives, ear and paw twitching, vomiting, diarrhea, depression, or muscle tremors.

Fipronil, one of the active ingredients in Frontline, was shown to cause thyroid tumors in rats and has been labeled a possible carcinogen for humans. Additionally, prolonged exposure to fipronil has been linked to seizures and death among test animals. Fipronil is also extremely toxic to fish, other sea creatures, birds, and beneficial insects such as honeybees.

By using these toxic chemicals on your pets, you are not only exposing them to potentially life-threatening toxins, but also yourself and the environment! In contrast, neem-based pet shampoos and repellents are natural and more effective than these synthetic chemicals, with fewer side effects.

Neem oil based shampoos promote a glossy coat, healthy skin, and, being a natural repellant, prevents pests from biting in the first place! Why does this work? Neem oil is chock full of fatty acids and antioxidants, which moisturize and strengthen hair follicles. Neem improves the rate of hair growth through linoleic, oleic, and stearic acids to restore and nourish your pet’s coat back to its natural texture and fullness. It also heals skin issues, just like it does for humans. Haven’t tried neem yet? You can even make your own shampoo to protect your dog!

What is neem?

Neem is a tree, native to India, that is used as a natural pesticide and fertilizer, as a natural ingredient in cosmetics, as an additive to livestock feed and in pet care products, and even in healthcare treatments!

Every part of the tree can be used – the bark, the leaves, the flowers, the gum, the fruit, and the seeds.

The seeds are pressed to make neem oil

The flowers are used for aromatherapy and in food

The bark can be used as a toothbrush.

The leaves have many uses.

Why is neem important?

Our planet is coming to a pivotal turning point. In the past 250 years, the global population has increased 10-fold. By 2050, we will have reached 10 billion people. Why should we be concerned?

In the early 1800s, we hit the 1 billion mark. The first Industrial Revolution gave us the opportunity to grow, and the Green Revolution of the 1960s allowed the exponential growth of the population to continue unhindered, With the creation of synthetic pesticides and synthetic fertilizers, we survived and thrived, but without realizing the profound impact these chemical inputs had on the planet we depend on to live. Many of these consequences have been ignored, but with the research and obvious impacts of climate change, we must now pay attention before it is too late to save our planet for future generations to enjoy.

In order to accomplish this, we must change, and fast. We must implement new agricultural strategies and techniques. They must be sustainable, viable, and thus, natural. Neem is the perfect opportunity to alter and reverse the damage we, as humans, have caused on our planet in every sector while catalyzing a New Green Revolution that focuses on sustainable growth.

In the agricultural sector, neem oil is an excellent and effective biopesticide and fertilizer, due to azadirachtin, a chemical compound found only in neem.

As a biopesticide, neem acts as an herbicide, eliminating the risks that many synthetic pesticides pose to animals, pollinators, our health, and the environment. Many of these synthetic pesticides are carcinogenic, seep into our water, and kill vital pollinators, like bees.

In India, neem-coated urea, a nitrogen-based fertilizer, is revolutionizing farming methods by providing a safe, cheaper, and more efficient way to introduce nitrogen to plants.

In the cosmetics sector, neem is a natural, organic ingredient. One amazing compound it contains is quercetin, which is an anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, anti-fungal, and antioxidant. When used on the face, it can reduce red spots and acne. Neem even acts as a natural moisturizer.

In the animal sector, neem cake is given to livestock as a dietary supplement. However, it doesn’t just provide many of the nutrients that livestock need, but it also acts as an antibacterial. Therefore, it eradicates many of the pests that are currently eliminated with antibiotics, which leads to antibiotic resistance.

Neem is also used to protect animals from ticks, mites, mosquitos, lice, and other pests. It is also safe to use on domesticated animals, like dogs.

In the healthcare sector, neem is only just starting to be researched. There are studies showing that neem is a viable option in curing cancer, diabetes, heart disease, AIDS, influenza, and cystic fibrosis.

Additionally, neem can help treat ulcers, quickly heal wounds, treat digestive issues, eczema, psoriasis, help prevent malaria, and many others.

Environmentally, the neem tree is a safe, non-toxic tool. Instead of polluting our waters, soils, and air, it has amazing carbon sequestration capabilities, effectively helping to reduce the impact our technology has imposed on the environment while combatting deforestation.

Neem has many secrets left to be discovered, but by realizing the benefits and opportunities that this miracle of nature has given us, we can change the world.

When we think of “organic”, we think of all natural, non-toxic, safe food and products. However, many organic products contain harmful synthetic chemicals. For example, when a product has a “made with organic” USDA label, the requirement is that only 70% of ingredients are organic. The other 30% can be dangerous synthetic chemicals.

Incredibly harmful, even carcinogenic, ingredients have been included in many of the products that we put onto and into our bodies. Some lip balms contain benzophenone, a chemical linked to cancer. Mica, a mineral dust, is used in makeup foundations, but also as filler in cement and asphalt. Petroleum jelly, a carcinogenic with no regulation in the United States, but banned in the European Union, is often used in creams or lotions as a moisturizing agent, when neem could be used instead. Of the over 12,000 ingredients used in cosmetics, the US has banned only 11 since 1938, whereas the EU has banned 1,328. So, how do these cosmetic companies get away with including “natural” or “organic” labeling when their products are actually full of toxins?

Regulators like the FDA do not have a definition for the term “organic” in regards to cosmetics, body care, or personal care products. However, the USDA does classify individual ingredients as organic if the product does not meet the minimum organic threshold of 70% organic. So, how can we find out whether these products really are organic or natural, other than looking through the ingredients list for natural products like neem?

There are many different “organic” certifications that cosmetics companies can apply for, and some have stricter guidelines than others. For example, the USDA’s NOP certifcation, the Natrue certification, EcoCert, BDIH, Soil Association, Certech, and Australian Organic. Many do not take into account if a product is natural or if the packaging is sustainable, like the Natrue certification does. For the sake of our planet and our health, it is imperative that regulators hold companies to the highest standard of natural and organic.

Neem bark contains nimbin, essential oils, and nimbion. Nimbin has anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, anti fungal, antihistaminic, and antiseptic properties. These compounds help to kill bacteria, reduce inflammation, prevent plaque formation, and protect from gingivitis.

Research has shown that when neem is introduced into the mouth, there is a lower reported incidence of gingivitis. This means that by using a neem mouthwash, the oral hygiene and health is greatly improved. Neem products can benefit your daily routine by keeping your teeth fresh and clean!

Male human head louse, Pediculus humanus capitis. Technical settings : - focus stack of 57 images - microscope objective (Nikon achromatic 10x 160/0.25) directly on the body (with adapter ~30 mm)

Every year, 6 to 12 million children in the United States are infested with head lice. These small bugs are extremely contagious, small, and hard to detect, which makes them difficult to get rid off.

Neem offers a healthy and effective alternative to synthetic head lice removal treatments. These synthetic treatments are often toxic, costly, and can prove ineffective if the lice have developed resistance to the chemicals commonly used in shampoos or treatments. In contrast, neem oil acts as a prophylactic agent, effectively preventing the spread of infestation by eradicating lice in all stages of the life cycle, while decreasing their appetite to the point of starvation.

Licener, an anti-louse shampoo made with neem seed extracts, successfully eliminated all eggs, lice, and nits after a single use of 10 minutes in a clinical study by Abdel Ghaffar, F and Al-Quraishy for the US National Institute of Health in 2012. A shampoo this effective will not lead to resistance development by these pesky bugs!

Natural additives for livestock feed such as neem cake are gaining popularity in farms worldwide, as a natural feed as well as due to problems with and ineffectiveness of antibiotics. This means that these antibiotics are given to livestock used in food production and the animals develop drug-resistant bacteria in their stomach. These bacteria reach humans through food, the environment, or direct human-animal contact.

Containing essential nutrients such as protein, calcium, and carotene that are required for healthy growth in livestock, and able to eradicate microbes that cause infections and disease, neem helps to fight bacteria and alleviates the pressure of rising antibiotic resistance.

Mixed with other feed or consumed alone, neem cleanses the stomach and kills intestinal worms. Neem leaves also increase secretion of milk after pasteurization. In poultry, it could replace up to 20% of groundnut cake without affecting egg production.
